I am originally from a German city called Bochum (it's football club the VFL unfortunately now relegated to the second league) where I went to school and completed my medical training.

I have always loved travelling and languages and spent time in France and England during medical electives. After working in a German hospital for a year I decided I wanted to go back to England for a short while to profit from the bedside teaching that I felt was missing in Germany and in 1995 I went to work in Barnstaple for a six-month post with the intention of returning home afterwards. Months turned to years and I feel very much at home in England now.

I initially trained to become an Anaesthetist and my training took my English husband and I to Exeter, Leicester, Derby, Boston and even Christchurch (New Zealand) before returning to the South West to become a GP.

Here I worked as a GP partner for some years and am now looking forward to my new role at Pembroke House.

I am married with two teenage sons who keep me busy (mainly as a taxi service!) and like all outdoor related activities, but especially wild swimming and cycling.

I know my surname is not easy to pronounce, but don't worry, just call me Dr. Katharina!

All partners provide contraception, maternity care and domicillary visiting.
