Evening & Weekend Appointments

Primary Care Delivering Extended Access for their patients

Please read for more information regarding our Extended Access service for evening and weekend appointments.

Monday— Thursday Extended Service

We now offer additional evening appointments for our patients. These are different to the appointments some surgeries in the South Devon and Torbay CCG area currently offer in the evenings. This is a requirement (known as Extended Access) where practices ensure across the week Monday-Thursday that a practice in their area is open between 6pm-8pm. To access these appointments please continue to contact your registered practice.

The timetable for evening appointments is detailed below:

Mondays – 6.00pm to 8.00pm – Chilcote Surgery, Torquay

Tuesdays – 6.00pm to 8.00pm – Compass House Medical Centre, Brixham

Wednesdays – 6.00pm to 8.00pm – Pembroke House Surgery, Paignton

Thursdays – 6.00pm to 8.00pm – Parkhill Surgery, Torquay

Weekend Extended Access Service

Extended Access also provide a weekend service.  There are clinics available each weekend situated in a central hub location. The hub location for our patients is Pembroke House Surgery, Paignton, TQ3 2EZ. Pembroke House Surgery has been selected as the “weekend hub” as it is considered the most suitably based surgery geographically to serve 290,000 patients in the South Devon and Torbay area.

There are also appointments available to book at one other surgery over the weekend, this rotates between Compass House, Mayfield (CherryBrook), Southover, Chelston (Barton), Brunel and Croft Hall.

The appointments offered are by pre-booked appointments by contacting your local surgery and booking ahead. Patients will be able to be seen by a healthcare professional during these extended hours, we will be offering telephone appointment’s with a GP, Practice Nurse and Health Care Assistant.

This service is very different to the current out of hour’s service where patients contact 111 in an urgent/acute situation that cannot wait until their practice is open again on the Monday. For any acute illness please still continue to contact 111, this new service is just for pre-booked routine work and is not for acute/urgent/walk in situations.

Due to a sharp increase in patients going to the wrong location, arriving late due to traffic problems or forgetting the time of their appointments and so on, we now have a receptionists phone for patients to phone in on during operational hours only.

Therefore the phone will be available for patients to contact from between 17.00 – 20.30 on Friday’s,  08.00 – 18.00 on Saturday’s and 08.00 – 13.00 on Sunday’s and between 08.00 and 18.00 on Bank Holidays.

07783 087302

At all other times the phone will be switched off and put away and it will not be set to accept voicemail.

Enquiries can be sent via email to 7day.gpservice@nhs.net

Please see our timetable below for the dates and times of our service.
